This unregistered 1979 MG Midget 1500 has a fascinating history. Originally purchased in 1980 from a British Leyland agent in Sheffield, the car had remained unsold since its delivery. The buyer acquired it by part-exchanging a Cortina MKV and soon advertised it in the Yorkshire Post, where it was sold to a buyer from North Yorkshire. The car resurfaced years later, having passed through a few hands, and was eventually purchased by a dealer in Barnsley from the estate of its last owner.
The MG Midget 1500 is the final iteration of the Midget series, produced between 1974 and 1980, featuring a 1493cc engine from Triumph producing around 65 bhp. This small two-seater sports car, known for its agility and charm, retains a classic FR layout and a 4-speed manual gearbox. The Midget 1500 represents the end of an era for British sports cars, with this particular example offering a rare opportunity to own a piece of automotive history.
